Learn to Make Money

Proofreading and Editing Business

Do You Want More Flexibility and Freedom in Your Life?

There are a LOT of ways to earn money online these days, but most of them are... questionable.

You can try your hand at digital or affiliate marketing, start your own Amazon, Shopify, or Etsy store, or create coloring books, journals, and cute printables.

But will you actually make a living in these oversaturated markets?

Many people on TikTok or Instagram claim to make millions, but how many "regular" people do more than waste time and effort with these types of businesses?

For almost 20 YEARS, I've worked from anywhere with my own online business where I have made a consistent profit since the FIRST MONTH. And because I can work from anywhere, anytime, I've been able to take my kids to doctor's appointments in the middle of the day, go to long lunches with friends, and vacation without asking anyone for time off.

It's time for the freedom and flexibility that you deserve!

BECOME A SCOPIST!

WHAT IS A SCOPIST?

To know what a scopist is, first you need to know what a court reporter or stenographer is. When you watch those courtroom dramas, look for that lady sitting down by herself, clickety-clacking away on a little machine. That is the court reporter. She (or he) is my client.

Court reporters working trials, arbitrations, hearings, and depositions need scopists to proofread and edit their transcripts.

The court reporter sends me the transcript via email, Dropbox, or services like SendThisFile. I open the file in my Case Catalyst editing software and go through it word by word and fix it.

I add punctuation, I correct misspelled words, and I add missing words. I make sure the correct speaker is identified, the paragraphs are indented correctly, the pages are formatted correctly, the appropriate words are used, and that the untranslated stenography is erased and replaced with English words.

I usually listen to the full audio of the deposition so I can catch all the problems, though sometimes I simply proofread transcripts that have already been scoped.

Once I’m done (I’m given anywhere from a few hours to a week to finish the transcript), I email the completed transcript back to the court reporter.
